Brief description

The most popular ascent to the Unterberg Schutzhaus leads via the Miragraben.

NOTE: Attention, this winter hiking trail may not be fully cleared when there is snow and can have slippery spots. Use at your own risk! Make sure to have appropriate equipment such as sturdy shoes, poles, waterproof outdoor clothing, headwear, etc. Drink enough water even in winter! Watch for early dusk and plan your routes particularly carefully!

Description

The Schutzhaus Unterberg is open all year (except from the second week of November – December 7) and is located in the middle of the Unterberg natural snow ski area.

Route description To the Unterberg Schutzhaus via the Miragraben

We start our hike at the former inn in Gries in Rohr im Gebirge. We follow the path through the Miragraben until we reach the Unterberg Schutzhaus.

Directions

Drive on the A2 to Wöllersdorf and drive along the B21 through Pernitz and Gutenstein to Rohr im Gebirge.

For example, take the train to Wiener Neustadt station. From there continue by regional bus to Rohr im Gebirge.

Equipment

Always take suitable maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes adapted to the route, bring sun and rain protection, as well as water and a small snack. Take your mobile phone and save the emergency number of mountain rescue: 140
