Station Puchberg am Schneeberg

Puchberg am Schneeberg railroad station welcomes its guests right in the center of the municipality of the same name. The bright station building at the Kurpark was renovated in 2014/2015, creating a customer-friendly point of contact for visitors to the Schneeberg and the surrounding region.

A Park & Ride facility has been set up to provide space for over 130 cars and mopeds, making it easy to board the train. The Salamander trains of the Schneebergbahn are also all equipped with appropriate ramps to enable barrier-free boarding and alighting if required.

The stabling and workshop hall built in 1999 is also located at Puchberg am Schneeberg station. The Salamander railcars and steam locomotives are housed there and are maintained on site by the Niederösterreichische Schneebergbahn.

Route information

• The Puchberg am Schneeberg stop is the terminus of the standard-gauge Schneebergbahn from Wiener Neustadt and also the starting station of the continuation line of the Schneebergbahn, which is operated as a rack-and-pinion railroad. The uphill trips to Austria's highest station start from here and the downhill trips on the Schneebergbahn's salamander and nostalgia trains end here.

• From April to October, salamanders and nostalgia trains run along the cog railroad.
• Connecting buses to Wiener Neustadt and Neunkirchen can be reached from the station.

Remarkable views

An indescribable array of magical places to rest and recharge your batteries can be found along the cogwheel railway route carved by the Schneeberg. Those hungry for views can enjoy the Paradise of Scenic Views from Puchberg to the Hochschneeberg summit station. Nostalgia fans can take a 40-minute ride on the Schneebergbahn to Austria's highest railroad station, from where they can hike back to the starting point in Puchberg along the cogwheel hiking trail and enjoy some of the region's eye-catchers and refreshment stops along the way.
