The starting point for the hike is the Semmering Pass. Pass the valley station of the Hirschenkogel cable car and continue to the Sporthotel Semmering. Follow the forest path towards Maria Schutz until you reach the turnoff to Greis/Bärenwirt. Cross the main road and follow the green markings behind the former Bärenwirt inn until you reach a clearing. Keep to the right and you will reach the Georgswarte. From here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Sonnwendstein and Maria Schutz. Continue to the next clearing on the left and on to the Eselstein and the Baufelsen. Safety information

Your hikes in the Vienna Alps should be an enjoyable and safe experience.

Therefore, please note the following:

When choosing a route, make sure that it matches your mountain experience and fitness level. Check the weather forecast in advance. The weather can change surprisingly quickly in the mountains. Therefore, always set off with the appropriate equipment (suitable footwear, rain protection). Check whether the huts and snack bars you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your chosen route and your planned return time before you set off. Stay on marked trails and avoid shortcuts. Due to the dry conditions, meadows and forests are highly flammable. Be respectful when handling fire and report any possible fires to the fire department immediately. (122) Do not litter and dispose of your trash properly.
