Details for: Schwaigen round
Brief description
Relaxed circular hike with a magnificent view of Rax and Schneeberg.
Description
From Steyersberger Schwaig (1357m) the hiking trail leads to Kranichberger Schwaig (1520m) where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Rax and Schneeberg and take a break. A detour to Bärenlacke (an underground-fed alpine lake) is definitely worth it. One of the information boards provides details about the origin and history of the Schwaigen.
We follow the trail marker and reach the Dreiländereck, the highest point of the hike. The name Dreiländereck comes from the fact that the property boundaries of three estates meet here.
At Dreiländereck there is the option to continue to Hochwechsel (walking time approx. 1.5 hours). We follow the trail to the next refreshment stop at Feistritzer Schwaig (1438m).
Along the protected area for the black grouse, the hiking trail leads back to the starting point at Steyersberger Schwaig.
