Beautiful hiking trail from the Puchberg valley to the Rohrbach valley for any season.

Description

The circular hike takes us from Puchberg via Rohrbach im Graben around Buchberg and Kienberg, where we pass various beautiful points. First, you hike along the Schneebergbahn through Hengsttal and over Sattelberg into Rohrbachtal. Here you find the Marias Land Resort, which invites you to rest and refresh at the restaurant. There is also a farm shop with specialties from salmon to Angus beef. From here, numerous hikes on the Gahns are possible. The return to Puchberg goes via Teichwiese, Gratzenhöhe, and through Schwarzengründe. On the circular route, you enjoy a beautiful landscape backdrop between Schneeberg and Gahns and pass numerous refreshment options.

Route description Rohrbach im Graben - Puchberg am Schneeberg

From the train station, we walk onto Bahnstraße and turn right onto Schneebergstraße. Before the cog railway crossing, we turn left following the hiking trail into Hengsttal. Up to Hengsthütte, we follow the blue marking, then the red one. After the alpine pasture, we turn left and walk along the blue marking over a forest road and then through the gorge to Rohrbach im Graben. Along the street, we walk through the village to house number 5 – here we turn left towards Gratzenhöhe (blue marking). We walk through the district Schwarzengründe, upon reaching the main road about 50 m to the right and then immediately left again (blue) along Ziehrerweg, which then leads back to Puchberg with a red marking.

From Vienna or Graz via the South Motorway A2 to exit Wr. Neustadt West and B26 to Puchberg am Schneeberg.

Parking

Parking guidance system or at the tourist office.

Attention: short-term parking zone in the town center

Take the train from Vienna or Graz to Wiener Neustadt. From there, take the regional train towards Puchberg am Schneeberg to the final stop.

Direct excursion train on weekends: departure at 8:41 from Vienna main station, return at 16:16 from Puchberg station.

Buses also run from Neunkirchen, Ternitz (line 350) and Pernitz (line 330) to Puchberg.
