Raach am Hochgebirge

Description

To the south of Gloggnitz lies Raach am Hochgebirge, an idyllic village surrounded by greenery. Almost three quarters of the municipal area is woodland, ideal for recharging your batteries while mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing or walking.

3 reasons to visit Raach am Hochgebirge:

  • Access to beautiful hiking trails:
    • Marienweg to Maria Schutz to the "Heiligen Bründl" and on via Schottwien to the railway hiking trail along the Semmering railway (UNESCO World Hertige site) past imposing viaducts.
    • Großer Otter: depending on the time of year, a worthwhile tour on foot or with snowshoes.
  • Explore the surrounding area by bike: A circular cycle tour leads from Raach via Gloggnitz along the Schwarzatal cycle path via either Reichenau an der Rax or Neunkirchen to Bad Erlach. And via EuroVelo 9 and the Feistritztal cycle path back to Raach.
  • Home-brewed beer, good food and theater: If you want to have a really good time in Raach am Hochgebirge, the best place to go for dinner is the Gasthof Diewald. Incidentally, the beer is brewed there by the innkeeper himself. In November, the Raach theater group, whose productions are known far beyond the town's borders, also performs there.
