Route description Prigglitz Silbersberg circular route in winter

The winter hike begins in the "Auf der Wiese" district in Prigglitz at the Gasthof Seelhofer. The path is continuously marked with the "Silbersberg Circular Route" and initially marked with red trail markers. From the starting point, go left along the street. The path first leads through a residential area before gradually becoming quieter and a section of forest begins to the left of the street.

Continue along the street, passing the Biohof Zwickl, the path briefly goes uphill to a chapel. At the chapel, keep right and continue towards "Schmalzgrube" (now with green trail markers). Along the way, there are repeated views of the snow-covered hills and mountains as well as the meadows and forests in the surroundings. On the left side, a panorama board invites you to discover the surrounding mountains and towns. Shortly thereafter, on the right side is the Mostheurige Kobermann. Benches are repeatedly available along the path for resting.

Continue following the street, first downhill to the "Rehgraben" junction and then uphill again until the Raxbench is reached. Here there is another panorama board and a place to rest. Immediately afterward stands the Wernhart chapel at a junction; from here turn right back to Gasthof Seelhofer.

Make sure when choosing the route that it matches your mountain experience and your fitness. Check the weather forecast beforehand. The weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore, always set out properly equipped (sturdy footwear, winter hiking gear). Check if the huts and snack stations you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your route choice and planned return before you start. Stay on the designated paths and avoid shortcuts. Do not throw litter in nature and dispose of it properly.

8 basic rules for the mountains

Attention, this winter hiking trail may not be fully cleared in snowy conditions and can have slippery spots. Use is at your own risk! Also consider that in winter trail markings can be invisible due to snow, so prepare well for your hike! Pay attention to early dusk and plan your routes particularly carefully.
