Nostalgiepostamt Küb

Description

After the construction of the Semmering Railway, not only Payerbach but also the Küb district developed into a popular destination for those seeking recreation from the city.

Following the expansion of the infrastructure in Küb, a post office was also needed. According to tradition, Empress Zita even wanted to be able to communicate with a confidante in Küb. The Küb post office was finally opened in 1905 .

The post office was in operation until its closure in 2004. Since then, the building has been run as a museum and is now the only historic post office in Austria that has survived from the imperial era. On display are a crank telephone, a flap cabinet and a telephone box from the turn of the century.

The nostalgic post office is just a few minutes' walk from the famous railroad hiking trail and invites you to take an exciting detour into the past.
