Lourdes Grotte in Maria Schutz

Description

In Maria Schutz, where sick people prayed for recovery at the "Heilig Bründl" during the plague epidemic in the 17th century, there is now a magnificent baroque church with two onion domes.

From the Maria Schutz basilica, a 400-metre-long procession path leads to the Lourdes Grotto with a statue of the Virgin Mary, an altar and seating. Long before the first chapel was built in Maria Schutz in 1722, there was a spring and a wayside shrine on the forest slope where the grotto was built. People came here with their needs and concerns and asked for help and assistance, which is why the spring was called "Heilig Brünnl".

Today, the Lourdes Grotto is a place of peace, devotion and contemplation.
