Johannesbach gorge in Würflach

Description

The Johannesbach gorge is a popular destination on the western edge of Würflach and only one hour from Vienna. On the trail through the one-kilometre long ravine, visitors will discover a small natural paradise, which stays wonderfully cool even on scorching hot days. If you look closely, you will see from the almost 60-metre deep crags how the Johannesbach has carved into the Wetterstein limestone for thousands of years.

The excursion is fantastic for families with children as the walk takes only 30 minutes. This is due to the many steps and bridges that make the route so fun. If you wish, you can leave the wooden bridge at certain points and dip your feet in the Johannesbach stream. You can also enjoy a break at the KlammWirtin restaurant at the entrance to the gorge.

By the way, if you would prefer to continue walking, you can turn the walk through the Johannesbach gorge into a hike. Or at Christmas time, get into the Christmas spirit and marvel at the “tallest decorated Christmas tree in Austria” during advent in the Johannesbach gorge.
