Route description Hiking tip from Payerbach to Gloggnitz

From the historic Payerbach train station we follow a small path until we reach an underpass of the Semmering railway. We walk through the underpass along an asphalted freight road uphill. We come to a gate and follow the signs and the blue trail marking to the left. After a sharp right turn, we continue hiking on a slightly rocky but quite steep forest path. We continue past the slightly rocky "key point" secured with chains for less sure walkers. After the "key point," we walk uphill for about 15 more minutes until we reach a forest clearing. Along the meadow path to the left, we reach the Jubilee viewpoint on a rocky elevation.

Back on our route, we cross a forest road briefly and continue along the blue trail marking. We reach a forest road again. After about 150 meters eastward along the forest road, we cross left uphill and reach after about 10 minutes the Bodenwiese with a view of the Waldburganger hut. Before the hut, we take the steep forest path towards Prigglitz on the left, marked blue and red with trail number 11. Through dense forest, it goes downhill again, at a fork a red-marked path to the Pottschacher hut turns left, but we continue on the blue trail toward Prigglitz. We cross several forest roads until one forest road can no longer be crossed directly. At this point, we go left, ignore the path right to Silbersberg and Gloggnitz, and continue on the gravel road. At the next clearing, we follow the blue markings to the right, shortly afterwards do not turn off to the "high path" but continue straight towards Prigglitz. A steep asphalt road leads us into the village of 400 inhabitants; at the main road, we turn right to "Auf der Wiese." Passing the Seelhofer inn, we turn left toward Silbersberg and Gloggnitz station and continue along the freight road to Silbersberg. Now we hike on the scenic freight road past the chapel uphill, looking east to Türkensturz and the Bucklige Welt, in the west the Rax is visible. Continuing on trail number 02, we walk down a forest road, at a fork on the left is a meadow, along whose edge we continue downhill. Secured with a wooden railing, we descend several switchbacks in the shady forest toward the valley and turn right onto Silbersberg road. After a few minutes, the train station of Gloggnitz is on the left, which can already be entered here. However, we walk a short way further along the road, cross the tracks on the overpass, cross the Schwarza river and after a few meters arrive in the center of Gloggnitz.
