Details for: Hike to the Große Kanzel (from Pension Seiser)

Brief description

The family-friendly ascent to the Große Kanzel leads from the Pension Seiser Toni via the Grafenbergweg to the Wilhelm-Eichert-Hütte, Turmsteighütte, and the Hubertushaus

Description

Already in the middle of the forest at the foot of the Hohe Wand is the starting point, the Pension Seiser Toni. A beautiful hike through mountain forests leads via the Grafenbergsteig up to the Hohe Wand. On the Große Kanzel lies our first goal, the Wilhelm-Eichert-Hütte. At 1,052 meters altitude, it is the highest hut on the Hohe Wand and also one of the oldest shelters. This way, you can reach the summit at Plackles (1,135 m) in a short time. Nothing stands in the way of a comfortable rest at the Eichert-Hütte in the sun veranda with a magnificent panoramic view of the Schneeberg, or in bad weather in the heated lounge. Blutwurst and bratwurst are served there.

The next hut is the Turmsteighütte, at 1,025 meters altitude, idyllically located, surrounded by forest and meadows. They allegedly serve the best Viennese schnitzel on the Hohe Wand here.

Popular with climbers is the Hubertushaus (946 m), located directly on the Hochfallwand. Anyone who has saved their appetite here enjoys not only the beautiful view but also cheese dumplings and spinach dumplings.

Experienced hikers can reach the huts on the Große Kanzel also via the Springlessteig starting in Zweiersdorf, which leads to the Hubertushaus. An ascent via the Wagnersteig is also possible. These are easy via ferrata. Those who have driven to the Hohe Wand by car can also reach the huts on the Nature Park circular hike "Following Wildeauers' tracks".
