Details for: Hike to the Alpengasthof Kummerbauerstadl (from Trattenbach)

Brief description

From Trattenbach up to over 1000 meters in altitude to the Alpengasthof Kummerbauerstadl, a place for rest and refreshment but also a starting point for further hikes and the entry point to the cross-country ski trail.

Description

The starting point of the hike is Trattenbach. In the town center you find the municipal office and the Wittgenstein museum. From here it goes straight uphill to the Alpengasthof Kummerbauer. Partly on the Wittgensteinweg, you walk on paths through the forest uphill via Schlaggraben. At 1100 m, between the Sonnwendstein, Otter and Wechsel area, lies the Alpengasthof Kummerbauerstadl. Here you can enjoy a magnificent view of Rax and Schneeberg. On the terrace, parents can relax comfortably while children play on a playground in sight. In winter, the Alpengasthof is a direct entry point to the Wechsel panoramic cross-country ski trail. In summer, hiking or Nordic walking tours on the Semmering, Sonnwendstein or the Großer Otter are offered. A comfortable circular hiking trail leads via the Morgenbesser family mountain farm towards Alpkogel and over the former Schwarzenberg hut.

An alternative ascent route can be chosen from the popular pilgrimage site Maria Schutz with a walk time of about 1 1/2 hours.
