The path runs flat along the Pitten, partly on EuroVelo 9, to the Gasthaus Pichler in Petersbaumgarten, which is appreciated for its traditional, classic inn cuisine and can be accessed via a ramp.

Description

One of many beautiful hiking trails in and around Grimmenstein is the Wasserweg. It leads hiking enthusiasts along the Pitten through a varied environment. The starting point is the town hall square in Grimmenstein, which depending on the season is the center of social life. From there, the path extends northwards, through huts to Petersbaumgarten. There, a refreshment awaits the walkers at the Gasthaus Pichler. In the barrier-free version, you can either return by train from the Petersbaumgarten stop to Grimmenstein or continue further, or walk back.

This route is well suited for strollers, wheelchairs, etc. It mainly runs on a lightly trafficked road and on EuroVelo 9.

Route description Barrier-free Wasserweg in Grimmenstein

The starting point of the route is the town hall square. From there, the path leads via Schulgasse and Obere Auweg. Following the signs towards Petersbaumgarten, it goes left along the Pitten on the Thermenradweg. In Petersbaumgarten, there is a right turn, passing the highway maintenance depot. Shortly afterwards, the Gasthaus Pichler is reached, where you can stop for a break (please check opening hours in advance). The same way is taken back to Grimmenstein.

Grimmenstein can be reached from Vienna via the A2 and the B 54.

Parking and park & ride in the immediate vicinity of the town hall square.
