Details for: Around the Kogel

Brief description

Around the Kogel offers an extensive hike in peaceful nature, which can be well combined with a trip to Mönichkirchen.

Description

A trip to Mönichkirchen offers variety and activities for the whole family. Sports and action are available at the Hamari Kraxlpark. Peace and relaxation can be found on the Themed Trail Lebenswasser and the water park with solarium. Culture enthusiasts visit the Maria Namen Church. Centrally located in the village, the church is the ideal starting point for a hike around the Kogel. The roughly 3-hour hike leads over beautiful paths and trails towards Heidstübl and through the quiet forests to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig. Here, the Berggasthof Mönichkirchner Schwaig invites you to linger on the panoramic terrace with game specialties from the Wechsel region, traditional delicacies, and homemade pastries. Alternatively, you can stop at the neighboring Alpine guesthouse "Enzian" with a large adventure playground and a new conservatory. Many paths lead back down to the valley. Adventurers can descend on the scooter and mountain cart track, but many footpaths also lead along the lift to the valley station and back to the starting point. You also have the option to hike down on the Lebenswasser themed trail. From Mönichkirchen, the stage on the Weg am Wiener Alpenbogen to Feistritzsattel begins.

Route description Around the Kogel

We start at the church in Mönichkirchen, pass the elementary school, keep left and hike up the path. Our route is marked in yellow. At the junction, we turn right onto the hiking trail and then left onto the path, over a section of road and then right again onto the hiking trail towards Heidstübl. A mountain bike trail also runs along here. The path bends to the left. We follow the trail for 500 meters and then keep right. Always following the path, we reach an asphalt road leading us to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig. From here, there are several ways back to the valley; we follow the signs or take a scooter to the valley station. The marked route continues first on the yellow marking and then descends right on the green marked path.
