Miesenbach-Waidmannsfeld railway station

Visit to the Gauermannhütte

Combined with a one-hour hike directly from the station, the route leads along the Steinbach stream to the municipality of Miesenbach, the birthplace of the famous painter Friedrich Gauermann. The work of this influential artist can be felt everywhere in the village, and visitors can find even more inspiration from his numerous works in the local Gauermann Museum. Starting from the Hornung Inn and Hotel, you can hike along the easy route for around 4.5 km until you reach the refuge named after the artist and enjoy a culinary treat from your friendly hosts.
