Franz Kaupe Haus – Herrgottschnitzer Hut

Beautiful views, warm hospitality and delicious cream cakes

From St. Corona, Franz Kaupe Haus on the Kampstein can be reached on three different trails, in about 1.5 hours. The owners, Xandi and Günther, spoil their guests with their dedication. So much so, their commitment has been rewarded.

On the Kampstein in Wechselland, there is a quaint wooden hut at 1,318 metres above sea level. This is Franz Kaupe Haus, better known as the Herrgottschnitzer Hut. The one hour/one and a half hour ascent from St. Corona to the hut is worthwhile not only because of the great views of the Schneeberg along the way, but also because of the cordial atmosphere, the delicious cooking, and above all the truly scrumptious cream cakes.
On top of that, Xandi and Günther offer exclusive hiking tips. This is why the hut is one of the certified huts in the Vienna Alps.

Organised snowshoe hikes

In winter, the owners also organise snowshoe hikes. A highlight for many guests is the moonlit hike – with a “snowshoe feast” on request – for groups of up to 4 people.

If you like the Herrgottschnitzer hut so much that you don’t want to leave, then you can stay there overnight. There are 4 twin rooms, 2 triple rooms, and 2 dormitories (for up to 11 people).
