Berggasthof Mamauwiese Inn

The Berggasthof Mamauwiese Inn is situated on the alpine plateau between Gutenstein and Puchberg.

This newly-renovated house the perfect starting point for an easy hike or a mountain tour. The view of the Schneeberg is also enjoyed by those coming by car via Gutenstein, who park in front of the barrier-free building.

Situated on an idyllic alpine plateau, 957 metres above sea level, the inn is at the heart of the Schneeberg range. The Berggasthof Mamauwiese Inn is therefore an ideal starting point for – and worthwhile stop-off point during – challenging tours or leisurely excursions.

Hikers, bikers and pilgrims

The inn is both a starting point and a destination for day trippers. Hikers tackle the 1,119 metre trek up the Schneeberg in three to four hours, while mountain bikers heading along the 31.64 km Schneeberg route like to make a final stop at the inn, before heading back to Puchberg. Pilgrims heading to Mariazell like to take a break on the terrace, check the latest weather forecast (free WLAN), and walk through the flowering alpine meadows.

A hearty snack or light lunch

You can eat in the restaurant, in the hunting lodge, or on the “Schneebergblick” veranda, which seats up to 70 people. Regional dishes such as Bärlauchsuppe (garlic soup), light salads and hearty dumplings are served here. Hungry hikers should definitely try the homemade Topfenstrudel (cheese strudel)

For a good start to the day

Those who are planning a longer tour and do not want to miss breakfast can stay in one of the dormitories (36 beds in total), or in a 4-bed room with a dog bed. There are five brand new apartments, which are perfect for a longer walking holiday.
