Brief description

E-bike route through Lichtenegg and Hollenthon. The windmill (“Windrad”) with viewing platform in Lichtenegg is the highlight of the round.

Description

This route has a light blue marking. It can be shortened in Hollenthon. Ambitious e-bikers can combine this route with the “Wetterroute” (orange marking).

Route description Wind turbine route

Start of the route in Lichtenegg. Ride along the main road and Maierhöfen. After Maierhöfen, turn right towards Pesendorf on Tafern. In Pesendorf, you pass the wind turbine with viewing platform – this is open for viewing on Saturday & Sunday. Continue along Pesendorf and Lehen until you reach Hollenthon. Possibility of connecting trails to the Hexenroute and the Annaroute. Otherwise, turn right, past the inn Posch. (To shorten the route, you can turn right here over the L4101, then continue right along the path) Turn slightly left onto Spratzeck, follow the road and then turn right into Spratzau. Follow the road and the Spratzbach stream, keep to the right and return to Lichtenegg.

 

The route is marked with boards with “Windradroute No. 5” in light blue.

Directions

Coming from Vienna, travel along the A2 until you reach the Edlitz exit. Take the B55 and the L4176 and L145 to Lichtenegg.

Coming from Graz, travel along the A2 until you reach the Aspang exit. Take the L4179 and the L145 to Lichtenegg.

Parking

Parking facilities at the e-bike rental stations at the municipal office.

Take the regional bus from Wiener Neustadt station to Lichtenegg.

When choosing a route, make sure it suits your experience and condition. Check the weather forecast in advance. The weather can change surprisingly quickly in the mountains. Therefore, always set off equipped accordingly (e.g. rain protection).

Check whether the inns and snack stations you want to visit on the way are open. Inform someone about your choice of route and your planned return before you set off.

E-bike rental at the Lichtenegg municipal office. Batteries can be charged at the Maria Schnee Inn.
